Find out more about how we keep our business sustainable and Carbon Neutral

Carbon Neutral Business

Over the past 6+ years, we have been engaged in the production of green energy to reduce the carbon footprint of our meat processing business, wider farming agribusiness interests, and contribute to the Northern Ireland Assembly targets to reduce the carbon emissions of the NI economy.

Our farm based green biogas plant in the heart of Armagh produces renewable electricity for our processing factory, and sends additional electricity to the national grid, contributing to some 300+ homes and businesses in the region.

This project was commenced in 2018, and uses all natural crops and biomass wastes from across our food and farm businesses to make biogas fuel to power our business. It also produces fossil free fertiliser to crow the crops and feed our animals – it’s a truly virtuous circle!

Here’s some fast facts from our biogas plant

  • Makes 4,400,000 kilowatts of electricity each year (that’s a lot!)
  • Enough to power our entire operation and/or 300+ homes and businesses in the area.
  • Saves 1,460 tonnes of carbon (CO2) from the environment yearly.
  • That’s the same CO2 as taking 860 cars off the road each year!
  • We can power 30+ trucks delivering our quality produce to the market globally with this naturally made gas fuel.
  • We have 20,000+ tonnes of fertiliser for the fields!
